No — anti-tarnish jewellery is imitation jewellery with 18k gold-plating over a brass core, sealed with an antitarnish coating. It looks identical to gold-plated jewellery (and very close to solid 18k gold) at a fraction of the
price. The anti-tarnish coating makes the gold-plating last far longer than regular plating.

Sonaaz anti-tarnish jewellery is water-resistant for occasional contact — splashes, light rain, hand-washing. We
do not recommend swimming, long baths, hot water, or chlorinated pools. The anti-tarnish coating is designed
to survive everyday life, not extended water immersion.

Yes. Sonaaz anti-tarnish jewellery is nickel-free and skin-safe. The anti-tarnish sealing coat creates a barrier
between the metal and your skin, making it suitable for sensitive skin types that typically react to imitation
jewellery. If you have a known severe nickel allergy, please contact us before ordering.

Under normal wear and care, Sonaaz anti-tarnish jewellery retains its 18k gold-plated finish for 2+ years and
often much longer. Heavily worn pieces (daily mangalsutras, everyday bangles) may show natural softening of
the finish over time but remain wearable for many years. Occasional-wear bridal pieces typically look the same a
decade later.

If any Sonaaz piece tarnishes, loses its plating, or shows degradation within 12 months under normal wear and
care, we replace it free of charge. Contact our support team with photos and order details, and we'll process the
replacement. This promise reflects our confidence in our anti-tarnish quality.

Avoid direct contact with water (especially hot or chlorinated water), perfume, body lotion, hair sprays, and
harsh cleaning chemicals. Apply perfume and lotion first, wait for it to dry, then wear your jewellery. Store each
piece in a soft pouch or compartment to prevent scratching. Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth after each wear.
Never use jewellery cleaners — they damage the anti-tarnish coating.

Gold-plated jewellery has a thin layer of gold over base metal (often <0.5 micron). Anti-tarnish gold-plated
jewellery (like Sonaaz) has 18k gold-plating PLUS a protective sealing coat, making it last far longer. Gold-filled
jewellery has a much thicker layer of gold (5%+ of total weight) bonded to the base — more expensive and rare
in Indian imitation jewellery. Sonaaz anti-tarnish offers the practical middle ground: high-quality 18k gold-plating
with the anti-tarnish coating for years of life.
